Mandatory Reporting Requirements in Delaware: Implicit Bias and Protecting the Vulnerable

Title: DE20261104 - Mandated Reporting Requirements in Delaware: Implicit Bias and Protecting the Vulnerable
Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2026; 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Presenter: Anne M. Garcia, LICSW, LCSW-C
Synopsis: This 1-hour CEU course provides Delaware social workers with a comprehensive overview of their responsibilities under state law. "Protecting the Vulnerable" bridges the gap between statutory requirements and daily clinical practice. Participants will explore the legal pillars of reporting, the psychological barriers to action, and the NASW ethical mandates that guide our duty to advocate for the safety of children and vulnerable adults.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
1. Differentiate between the reporting requirements and jurisdictional oversight of DSCYF and DHSS according to Delaware state law.
2. Apply the "reasonable cause to believe" threshold to clinical case scenarios, overcoming common barriers to professional reporting.
3. Integrate the NASW Code of Ethics with mandatory reporting mandates to demonstrate a commitment to integrity and the protection of vulnerable populations.
